September 14, 2019

Louisville – Councilwoman Keisha Dorsey is bringing a wide variety of arts opportunities for everyone in District Three to enjoy and appreciate through a new program designed to enhance the arts experience for all ages in the coming year in all areas of the district.

“Arts in 3D is a new concept to showcase the beauty and creativity of the Arts to the people of District Three, who may never have the chance to experience the wide variety of local talent we have in Louisville Metro,” says the Councilwoman. “The Arts are an important part of our quality of life and I want to make sure we give as many people as possible a way to enjoy the experience.”

The program was unveiled during an official kickoff at Algonquin Park on Saturday. The Councilwoman was joined by Christen Boone, president and CEO, Fund for the Arts and a wide variety of local performing artists who entertained the community.

Dorsey is partnering with the Fund for the Arts for the coming year. Funding for the program is provided through District Three’s Neighborhood Development Funds.

Arts in 3D has 5 components:

School’s Out, Art’s In will provide weekly arts opportunities for students who live in the district- all year. This will include opportunities to see Dance Companies, resident artists, etc.

In School Arts will ensure every school in the district receives arts experiences like artist visits to schools and field trips.

EngAGE Art- will engage people 55 and up through regular opportunities to attend art events, shows, and experiences.

Public Art Experiences will highlight musical performances and mural painting.

Ticket Bank- will provide opportunities for district residents to receive free tickets to see selected performing arts shows.

“I want to encourage everyone in the community to take advantage of Arts in 3D and embrace the spirit of this program,” said Dorsey. “I was not elected to maintain the status quo; I was elected to make visible and impactful changes. This Partnership not only does that, it will add to vibrancy of this diverse and engaged community.”
