Councilman Owen to host D9 Community Meeting

May 20, 2024

Louisville (May 20, 2024) – Join Councilman Andrew Owen (D-9) for a community meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Children’s Home, located at 2823 Frankfort Avenue.

This meeting will provide constituents an opportunity to engage with Councilman Owen regarding any issues, concerns, or questions related to the district.

This month’s special guest is Cindi Sullivan, Executive Director of TreesLouisville, whose mission is to increase the tree canopy to achieve 45% coverage. Sullivan will discuss the newly launched Louisville Tree Plan that sets the stage for an equitable and robust urban forest.

“Tree canopy in urban neighborhoods plays a crucial role in creating sustainable, healthy, and vibrant communities. I’m excited to learn more about the tree plan, and how citizens like you can get involved. I hope you’ll join me on Wednesday,” said Councilman Owen.

The Louisville Tree Plan is available online here: Residents are encouraged to fill out the online survey, invite TreesLouisville to an upcoming meeting, and/or attend one of the seven workshops scheduled around the city.

The workshops will consist of a short presentation on the project, followed by group discussion on community priorities and needs. A workshop will be held in District 9 on Saturday, August 24, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the St. Matthews Library, 3940 Grandview Avenue.
