Councilman Mulvihill signs on as co-sponsor of Minimum Wage Resolution

Louisville- Councilman Pat Mulvihill (D-10) has signed on a cosponsor of a resolution before the Metro Council calls on Kentucky lawmakers to pass an increase in the minimum wage during the 2016 legislative session.

          Councilman David James (D-6) and Councilman Brent Ackerson (D-26) are the primary sponsors of the resolution that will go before the Metro Council on Thursday, November 19th

          Metro Louisville’s minimum wage law took effect on January 2nd of this year. On July 1st, the wage went from $7.25 to $7.75. On July 1st of 2016, the rate moves up to $8.25 and then finally to $9.00 on July 1st 2017. Future increases are tied to the Consumer Price Index beginning July 1st in 2018.

          The Resolution’s sponsors believe Metro Louisville’s approach is realistic and needed to help close the income gap for many families in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
