Councilman Mulvihill announces $6 million investment coming to the old Kmart property on Poplar Level Road
Louisville – Councilman Pat Mulvihill (D-10) excitedly announces a $6 million redevelopment plan for the old Kmart building on Poplar Level Road which is currently underway and will have three new businesses relocating on the property, the first as early as the fall of 2020.
Kmart closed the Poplar Level store on May 12, 2016. P&M Investment Company LLC will locate Autozone Megahub, Big Lots and Planet Fitness into the building once renovations are completed.
“Residents have been asking my office on a daily basis, what’s going on with the old Kmart property,” said Mulvihill. “We are thrilled to finally have this property redeveloped and this $6 million investment will be an economic boon to the Poplar Level Road area which has seen great growth over the last four years.”
“It’s been a long and arduous process during this past nearly four years but finally we’ve reached the moment to redevelop this property. I want to thank Councilman Mulvihill and Louisville Forward for all their hard work, collaboration and patience to make this a reality,” said Peter Park, President of P&M Investment Company LLC. “We look forward to serving and working with our neighbors in District 10.”
Big Lots and Planet Fitness are planning to open for business sometime in the fall of 2020. Autozone Megahub is looking at a target date of early 2021 before it begins operations.
P&M Investment is planning two additional restaurants for the property which will be constructed next to Poplar Level Road. The plan calls for a new Burger King and an additional restaurant to join Wendy’s located at the corner of Poplar Level and Taylor Avenue.
The Old Kmart property is located at 4025 Poplar Level Road.
