Louisville – One of Louisville’s oldest churches will take time to celebrate its 200th anniversary by inviting everyone to a block party on Saturday, April 11th as a way of honoring the Walnut Street Baptist Church as it reflects on its service to the community.

“Old Louisville has many unique landmarks and it is an honor to help the Walnut Street Baptist Church gather with the community to celebrate its founding as one our city’s most important faith based organizations,” says Councilman David James (D-6).

The Church will hold a block party from First Street to Fourth Street and from Kentucky to Ormsby. The “Rascals of Ragtime” will provide musical entertainment for the event which is free to everyone.

“I want to encourage everyone to come out and meet the members of the Walnut Street Baptist Church. All Churches have a very important role to play in our community with the services and counseling they provide and it’s a chance to say congratulations and wish for good things in the next 200 years,” says James.
