Councilman James to join volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels on Wednesday, March 18th
Louisville – Councilman David James (D-6) will take time on Wednesday, March 18th to join other volunteers as they deliver Meals on Wheel to the elderly as part of the national “March on Wheels” campaign.
“I am looking forward to spending some time delivering meals to home-bound elders in our area,” says James. “I have taken up the challenge along with my other colleagues on the Metro Council to bring awareness to hunger and the needs of or elderly in this community.”
The Councilman will join volunteers to deliver meals between 10:00am and 12:00pm. The effort is being coordinated through the South Louisville Ministries.
James joins Council members Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13), Jessica green (D-1), Bill Hollander (D-9) and Glen Stuckel (D-17) along with hundreds of volunteers who will deliver meals next week as part of the national March on Wheels Campaign.
District 6 houses several complexes with elderly residents including: The Puritan, Baptist Towers, Treyton Oaks, St. Catherine Court, St. Catherine Square, Kling Center and Hillebrand. The Councilman encourages the community to be aware of the impact they could make on senior citizens in the district by taking the time to volunteer.
“Meals on Wheels is a worthwhile program that everyone should help out if they can,” says James. “If not, use this month to check on an elderly family member or friend who may need your help with food, transportation or even simple tasks around the house.”
