Louisville – On Monday, members of the Democratic Caucus elected Councilman David James (D-6) to serve as Majority Leader and Caucus Chair for 2015. The Caucus also selected Councilwoman Madonna Flood (D-24) to serve as Vice-Chair.

“I want to thank the Caucus members for their trust in making me Majority Leader for the coming year,” said James. “I am looking forward to working with the caucus as we continue to improve on those issues that will make our community a great place to live.”

James was first elected to the Metro Council in 2010 and then reelected in 2012. He represents the Old Louisville and California neighborhood area along with a portion of the University of Louisville.

In 2013, he served as Majority Leader and Chair of the Democratic Caucus and has chaired the Council’s Public Safety Committee.

“I look forward to working with Councilman James and our Caucus to continue to make improvements for our citizens in 2015,” said Flood.

Flood is a founding member of the Metro Council elected to serve in 2002 and reelected in 2004, 2008 and 2012. She has previously served as Majority Leader and Chair of the Caucus in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

In 2014, she served as Chair of the Metro Council’s Planning, Zoning Land Development and Design Committee.
