Notice of Action on a 
Federally Enforceable District Origin Operating Permit (FEDOOP)

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a FEDOOP operating permit for BAE Systems (manufactures and refurbishes weapons systems for the military), 163 Rochester Drive, Louisville, KY 40214 in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This permit action is reclassifying the company from a Title V to FEDOOP due to EPA’s withdrawal of the “once in always in” policy for potential major sources of hazardous air pollutants. This action also incorporates VPM paint and blast booths into the operating permit. The 30-day public comment period starts on January 27, 2021, and ends on February 26, 2021. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

Materials are not available at the District office due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Copies of the application are available upon request. Written comments will be accepted at [email protected] until midnight or mailed to the District office, 701 West Ormsby Avenue, Suite 303, Louisville, KY 40203, by February 26, 2021.
