To encourage more people to adopt their next pet, Louisville’s two largest pet adoption agencies are charging no adoption fees for cats age 1 year or older and $40 for dogs 40 pounds or more Wednesday, December 10 through Sunday, December 14.
“Many families are thinking about bringing home a new cat or dog this month. But with hundreds of loving animals already waiting in shelters, the Kentucky Humane Society and Louisville Metro Animal Services are asking people to adopt, not shop, this holiday season,” said Andrea Blair, spokesperson for the Kentucky Humane Society.
The adoption special is valid at Louisville Metro Animal Services’ (LMAS) Animal House, LMAS adoption sites at participating PetSmart Stores, and all nine Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) adoption centers Wednesday through Sunday.
“By adopting a shelter pet, families can feel good knowing they saved a life. What better way to celebrate this season of giving than to give a grateful animal a home?” said Stephanie Moore, LMAS assistant director.
LMAS and KHS have the widest selection of cats and dogs to choose from in the region, according to Moore.
