Pedestrian Fatality Rate per 100,000 Population by Council Districts

Among the 26 Metro Council Districts across Louisville/Jefferson County, three council districts (13, 14, and 21) have the highest pedestrian fatality rate compared to its counterparts and the county level. For instance, the pedestrian fatality rates are 9.22 in District 3, 6.16 in District 21, and 5.58 in District 14, respectively, indicating the needs of funding and policy interventions in addressing safety concerns. 

Notes: Pedestrian fatality rate is defined as the number of pedestrians who died in traffic crashes per 100,000 population. 

Fatality and Serious Injury Rate of Pedestrians per 100,000 Population by Council Districts

When taking both pedestrian fatalities and serious injuries into consideration, the Metro Districts with relevant greater pedestrian safety concerns, are clustered in the West and Downtown Louisville areas. For instance, the fatality and serious injury rates of pedestrians in Districts 3, 4, 6, and 15, range from 15 to nearly 30, which are much greater than the county level 10.
