"Be The One" Mentoring Challenge

During National Mentoring Month, January 2015, Mayor Fischer launched a mentoring challenge. He encouraged all citizens to "Be The One" to make a difference in a young person's life. A recent national report, The Mentoring Effect, discovered that one in three young people will reach adulthood without connecting with a mentor of any kind. It also showed that with each additional risk factor a young person experiences, the less likely he or she is to connect with an informal mentor.

We need to act now.

Think how different your life would be if you didn’t have someone who took you under their wings, showed you the ropes, cared about you enough to point out mistakes and encouraged you to pursue your dreams.

The future of Louisville rests in the hearts and minds of our young people but the work of creating a safe, vibrant and productive community belongs to us all.
