Louisville Metro Government and partner efforts to protect unsheltered during severe weather

Louisville Metro Government, the Coalition for the Homeless and homeless service providers and outreach teams are taking numerous steps to help unsheltered people find shelter during severe weather. These include:

White Flag: The Coalition for the Homeless coordinates the Operation White Flag program to ensure that residents experiencing homelessness can find shelter during severe weather. Operation White Flag goes into effect when the temperature or the wind chill is at 35 degrees or lower and designates that all persons needing shelter can stay at the participating shelters while weather conditions persist. Participating Operation White Flag shelters include: St. Vincent de Paul (for men only at 1034 S. Jackson St.) and Wayside Christian Mission (432 E. Jefferson St.). For more information, call the Single Point of Entry at 502-637-2337.

Beds Are Available for Those Who Want Shelter: LMG has worked with community partners to ensure beds are available to those who want shelter.  To reserve a bed at an emergency shelter, or to get access to services to prevent homelessness, contact the Coalition for the Homeless' Single Point of Entry office: 502-637-2337. The Single Point of Entry staff takes calls seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All after-hour shelter referral requests should be directed to the shelter providers listed below:
