Protect My Kentucky Home is made possible by the Kentucky Homeownership Protection Center, a centralized location for information on public services to assist Kentuckians in keeping their homes. Each homeowner who contacts the Protection Center through the Web site, www.protectmykyhome.org, or through the toll-free number, (866) 830-7868, is referred to a free HUD-certified counseling agency serving their area. That agency reviews the homeowner’s current situation and may assist them in meeting their goals. Eligible homeowners in danger of foreclosure are referred to Legal Aid for free legal advice.
Have you lost your job or have your hours been cut? The Kentucky Unemployment Bridge Program (UBP) is a new forgivable loan option for eligible applicants to assist them in making their mortgage payments. To be eligible, the applicant must have experienced a job loss or reduction in income due to changing economic conditions, through no fault of their own, and demonstrate a need for assistance. Local Foreclosure Prevention Efforts
Home foreclosure is a serious problem in communities across the nation, and in neighborhoods throughout the Louisville area. Foreclosure hurts families who lose their homes, it hurts neighborhoods and it hurts our entire community.
That’s why Louisville Metro Government is partnering with the Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and several HUD-approved housing counseling agencies to connect you with resources, information and assistance to help prevent financial problems and foreclosure.
