Public Works Equity Impact Statement

Public Works & Assets Equity Vision Statement

The Department of Public Works and Assets strives to provide services accessibly, equitably, and inclusively to all members of the community while fostering a divers and respectful work environment that supports and enables all employees to succeed.

Public Works & Assets Equity Goals

  1. Ensure public resources are invested effectively and equitably in support of our entire community by complying with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Justice40 Initiative. This initiative is a goal to have at least 40% of the benefits from many grants, programs, and initiatives, flow to disadvantaged communities.
  2. Practice equity in the hiring and retention of employees by offering ample opportunities for training and advancement while exploring recruitment opportunities with groups previously underrepresented by coordinating with the Office of Equity to identify best practices and methods for communicating opportunities.
  3. Increase representation of minority owned businesses in contracts for design and construction services by working with the Equity, Contracting, and Procurement Task Force to determine a baseline percentage.
  4. Work toward an accessible and safe transportation system for all users that considers the impact of the built environment on those most vulnerable by aiming towards improvements identified in the Vision Zero program and complete streets performance measures.
  5. Build partnerships that lead to transformation by creating opportunities for inclusion in decision making and engaging stakeholders throughout our community by working with the communications team and Metro Council to identify the best outlets for community engagement.
