About Planning and Design Services

The Louisville Metro Department of Planning and Design Services (PDS), part of Develop Louisville housed under Louisville Forward, is responsible for administering the policies, programs and regulations that guide the city’s development. Responsibilities include development plan review, overseeing design overlays and historic preservation programs, and advising the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustment and the Historic Landmarks and Preservation Districts Commission on decisions affecting the built environment. Planning & Design Services is also responsible for maintaining and monitoring compliance with the Land Development Code.

 

The Mission of the Planning & Design Services is:
To oversee land use planning and design services in directing economic growth and physical development in a manner as to ensure the prosperity, health, safety, and general welfare of the community.
