Oversees participants at swimming pools to ensure a safe and sanitary environment

Examples Of Work

UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Monitors activities in swimming areas to detect hazards and disturbances, to prevent accidents and to provide assistance

Observes swimmers for safety.
Cautions swimmers regarding inclement weather, unsafe areas or illegal conduct
Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning
Examines injured persons, administers first aid, monitors vital signs, applies antiseptics and bandages, and administers artificial respiration to revive individuals
Maintains order and enforces rules

Works with citizens of various ages and diverse backgrounds. 

Mops, cleans, and removes trash from restroom and pool area
Tests water hourly and records results on pool log sheets to determine chlorine content and pH value

Resolves conflicts when possible, but contacts LMPD if situations escalate or if any illicit activities occur.

Jefferson Memorial Forest

The Forest is the perfect place to teach, learn and grow!  We are the nation's largest city-owned forest, with 6,600 acres just 20 minutes from downtown Louisville, KY.  With 40 miles of hiking trails, multiple outdoor recreation and educational programs, volunteer opportunities, fishing, camping, picnic shelters, a conference center and more, it's a great place to work and to visit!

Seasonal positions run up to 6 months maximum, and include weekends.  Annual return is possible for the right person!
