LDC Reform Upcoming Outreach and Engagement

Outreach and engagement for the LDC Reform in 2024 remains focused on equitable approaches to guide recommended changes. The Office of Planning will continue the Zoning Matters: Conversations with a City Planner series at the Louisville Free Public Library and will introduce two new engagement series. The first is a free “Planning 101” course, which aims to educate and inform community members about various aspects of planning in Metro government and beyond. The second is a quarterly series of Open Studio Discussions held in partnership with the Urban Design Studio, related to relevant and trending topics in planning and design. Learn more about each series and review the schedule below, which will be updated throughout the year.

In addition to the general outreach programs above, the Office of Planning will continue to offer opportunities to learn and engage on specific topics related to LDC Reform. In 2024, LDC Reform efforts will be focused on Middle Housing, modular & factory built housing, and EZ-1 zoning. Engagement opportunities, including meetings, workshops, and walking tours, will be regularly updated throughout the year. More details and a schedule can be found below.

Zoning Matters: Conversations with a City Planner

The Office of Planning continues to host public conversations at branches of the Louisville Free Public Library. This open forum allows community members to talk about their neighborhoods, ongoing development, and ask questions about the the city's Land Development Code Reform or other planning and zoning activities. Through conversation in these spaces, both planners and community members can take away a greater understanding of why zoning matters to us all.

Conversations will be offered on Tuesdays from 3 - 7 p.m. City Planners will be available to answer questions about zoning (what is zoning? why does it matter?) and discuss the ongoing LDC Reform, including Middle Housing. We want to hear about your neighborhood and discuss what the Reform means for you! The date and location for each conversation is provided below:
