District 8 includes four home rule cities* and 13 neighborhoods (in whole or in part): Alta Vista (Cherokee Seneca); Belknap; Bonnycastle; Braeview (Cherokee Gardens); Cherokee Triangle; Deer Park; Germantown; Hawthorne; Highlands Douglass; Kingsley*; Original Highlands; Seneca Gardens*; Seneca Vista (Bowman); Strathmoor Manor*; Strathmoor Village*; Tyler Park; and Upper Highlands (Gardiner Lane and Hayfield Dundee).
Each year, every Metro Council District receives: Neighborhood Development Funding (NDF) (historically $75,000, $65,000 in FY2020) for Metro Government projects, programs or operating grants to eligible non-profits; Capital Infrastructure Funding (CIF) (historically $100,000); and Cost Center funding (historically $30,000, $25,000 in FY20) to pay for expenses to run his or her office.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to call the District 8 office to discuss requests prior to submitting application.
District 8 faces numerous challenges related to our streets. Moreover, our need will always be greater than our resources. Therefore, we must consider streets data with an eye towards efficiency and, also, creativity to maximize our return on investment.
