According to statistics, District 8 “Part 1 Crimes” are down 11.3% to 1,146 in 2019 from our baseline of 1,292 annually (on average, 2013-16).
Part 1 Crimes means: Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft, Theft/Larceny, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Rape and Homicide.
Total crime is down 28% from 2016 (2,399) to 2019 (1,739) and down 16% year over 2018 (2,059).

District 8 Summer "Surge" Police Overtime Initiative Results
Over the last two years, we have invested Neighborhood Development Funding in police overtime to combat higher crime rates experienced during summer months. In 2017, we "surged" police from June to August; and in 2018, we surged from July to August. The results here compare to the baseline year 2016.
