About Angela Bowens

Angela Bowens was appointed by Metro Council as the District 1 Councilwoman on March 17, 2022. Councilwoman Bowens will serve the remainder of former Councilwoman Jessica Green’s term.

Councilwoman Bowens grew up in District 1, and she’s honored to represent her community on Metro Council. District 1 spans from Greenwood Avenue south to Riverport Drive, and it’s sandwiched between the Ohio River and Cane Run Road. The district includes neighborhoods like Parkland, Chickasaw, Park Duvalle, St. Denis, Lake Dreamland, Riverside Gardens, and Russell.

Councilwoman Bowens has been an Accounts Receivable Manager in the healthcare industry since 2015. She has extensive experience in project management, strategic planning, and financial auditing. Councilwoman Bowens enjoys numbers and digging into the details, so she is looking forward to using those skills to benefit Metro Council.

The councilwoman has a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from U of L, and she completed her master’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Healthcare Administration from Spalding University. She also participated in the Leadership Louisville Class of 2021. The councilwoman completed her higher education in her 40s and is passionate about encouraging others to pursue education at any age.

Councilwoman Bowens has a deep love for her District 1 neighbors. She is looking forward to riding through the district, attending neighborhood meetings, learning more about what the community wants or needs, and then advocating for any changes.

Councilwoman Bowens plans to continue working on projects that Jessica Green started. She will be serving on the following committees: Public Safety Committee, Appropriations Committee, and Community Affairs, Housing, Health and Education Committee.
