FY17 Recommended Budget
2016-2017 Recommended Executive and Detail Budgets
(July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017)
Mayor Greg Fischer’s recommended Louisville Metro Government budget for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 was submitted to Metro Council May 26, 2016 and will have its first reading at Metro Council meeting on June 9, 2016. The budget includes $583 million in General Fund and $822 million overall (which includes $115 million in Capital funding and Debt Service). The spending plan includes, road paving, sidewalk repair, bike lane expansion, and technology upgrades. Public safety funding includes 122 new Police Recruits, 40 new Firefighter Recruits, and $7.5M in police and emergency response vehicles and equipment. Multiple education initiatives are highlighted and include funding for the Cultural Pass, Summer Reading programs, support for the 55,000 Degrees initiative and design funding for the new Northeast Regional Library anticipated to be built in 2018.
