2016-2017 Approved Executive and Detail Budgets
(July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017)
Mayor Greg Fischer’s recommended Louisville Metro Government budget for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 was approved by Metro Council June 23, 2016 and went into effect July 1, 2016. The budget includes $583 million in General Fund and $823 million overall (which includes $116 million in Capital funding and Debt Service). The spending plan includes road paving, sidewalk repair, bike lane expansion and technology upgrades. Public safety funding includes 122 new Police Recruits, 40 new Firefighter Recruits, and $7.5M in police and emergency response vehicles and equipment. Multiple education initiatives are highlighted and include funding for the Cultural Pass, Summer Reading programs, support for the 55,000 Degrees initiative and design funding for the new Northeast Regional Library anticipated to be built in 2018.
