Louisville is a city of compassion where people from all backgrounds come together to help lift each other up. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, we have heard an outpouring of requests from residents asking how they can help. Below are trusted local nonprofits that are working to provide aid to people in Ukraine and to the country’s refugees, as well as organizations that support our city's many immigrants and refugees who already are making Louisville their second home.
Louisville Metro's Office for Globalization has brought together the Ukraine Task Force, a volunteer group with a desire to help Ukrainians.

Where to give
The four organization listed below are working directly in Ukraine or to support the people of Ukraine. Additional nonprofits to consider supporting can be found on the Community Foundation of Louisville website.
Love the Hungry gives nourishing meals to children and families vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition around the world.
Mulberry International partners with local groups to reach displaced people and at-risk families in Ukraine.
SOS International provides critical medical supplies and equipment. To date, they have helped people in over 106 countries.
WaterStep helps people gain access to safe, clean drinking water. It has worked in more than 60 countries.
Shipping High-Priority Items
Louisville Metro's volunteer Logistics & Procurement Team is tasked with collecting high-priority items for shipment to Europe and with the delivery of these items to areas of need in Ukraine. High-priority items mainly include medical and tactical gear as these have the most immediate impact in helping the people of Ukraine withstand and defend against the Russian invasion. The team is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable shipment of these items to a safe zone in Europe (Poland, Slovakia, etc.) and then the subsequent distribution of these deliveries to hot zones and areas of need inside Ukraine. The team draws on the talents and resources of nonprofits who specialize in logistics as well as community members whose family members and professional contacts serve in Ukrainian hospitals and military organizations.

Support Louisville’s refugees
President Joe Biden announced that the U.S. will accept as many as 100,000 refugees from Ukraine. We don’t know if any of them will end up in Louisville, but as a global Welcoming City, Louisville continues to open its arms to refugees from around the world. The organizations below help those refugees obtain housing and basic needs, find employment, connect to the school system, and other critical services.
