Emergency Shelter Options

Emergency shelter beds can be reserved by calling Single Point of Entry at 502-637-2337 between 10 AM and 4 PM Monday, 7 days a week. The Client Care Services staff can also refer you to other social service providers. Single Point of Entry can also be reached by visiting the Ollie Green II Building located at 1300 South 4th Street, Suite 250.

Day Shelters in Louisville include: 

YMCA Shelter House (ages 12-17 only)

2400 Crittenden Drive

Open 24 Hours 

The YMCA Shelter House offers 24 hour support staff and case management services for teens ages 12-17. Life skills, family mediation, meals, and access to medical care are provided, among other supportive services. The shelter can be reached at 502-635-5233. 

 

Jeff Street Baptist at Liberty 

800 East Liberty St. 

Open Monday through Friday from 7AM to 10 AM 

A place for fellowship and safety, Jeff Street Baptist can be reached at 502-585-3787

 

Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries Family Day Shelter 

1401 Bluegrass Avenue 

Open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 1 PM 

The Ekklesia Family Day Shelter offers hot meals, clothing, access to a computer lab, and referrals to health and social services. Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries can be reached at 502-614-7575. 

 

Uniting Partners for Women and Children (UP)

425 South 2nd St., Suite 100

The only day shelter exclusively for women and children in Louisville, UP provides showers, laundry, and access to social services. Call 502-384-0001 for more information. 

 

St. John Center (Men only)

700 East Muhammad Ali Boulevard

Open Monday through Sunday from 8 AM to 4 PM

St. John Center offers unsheltered men the ability to receive mail, take a hot shower, and receive necessities like socks and hygiene products. Employment and housing counselors are available onsite during the day to offer services. You can call 502-568-6758 for more information. 

 

Night Shelters in Louisville include:

 

Center for Women and Families (Domestic violence and sexual assault survivors only) 

927 S 2nd Street 

The Center for Women and Families offers overnight shelter and supportive services for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. They can be reached at 502-581-7200.

 

Wayside Christian Mission

432 East Jefferson Street 

Check In Time: 4 PM

Wayside Christian Mission offers emergency shelter in addition to a variety of programs for unsheltered citizens in Louisville. You can reach Wayside at 502-742-6166. To reserve a bed, please call 502-637-2337.

Re:Center Ministries (Men only)

Check In Time: 7:00 PM 

Reserve at bed at Re:Center Ministries through the Coalition for the Homeless by calling 637-BEDS . For other inquiries, Re:Center can be reached at 502-584-6543 ext. 105. 

 

St. Vincent de Paul Ozanam Inn (Men only)

1034 South Jackson Street 

Check In Time: 4 PM 

At St. Vincent de Paul, men experiencing homelessness can reserve an emergency shelter bed by calling 637-BEDS or 502-584-2480 (ext.224). 

 

Salvation Army Center of Hope 

911 South Brook Street

Check In Time (Men) : 6:00 PM

Check In Time (Young Adults) : 9:00 PM 

Over 1500 Louisvillians utilize the emergency overnight shelter at the Salvation Army each year. Contact the Salvation Army Center of Hope at 502-671-4904. To reserve a bed, please call 502-637-2337.

 

Volunteers of America 

1321 South Preston Street 

The Volunteers of America create a bridge between transitional housing to permanent housing at their overnight family shelter. Call 502-636-0816 to learn more or receive assistance. To reserve a bed, please call 502-637-2337.

 

The Healing Place 

Men's Shelter: 1020 West Market St.

Women's Shelter: 1503 15th St.
