SarahBeth Hartlage, MD
SarahBeth Hartlage, MD, serves as Interim Medical Director. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology at the University of Alabama and her Master’s Degree at Tulane University, focused on Cell and Molecular Biology. She earned her MD from the University of South Alabama before completing her residency in anesthesiology at the University of Louisville. While at UofL, Dr. Hartlage was honored to be named Chief Resident by her peers and the faculty. She became Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, where she cared for vulnerable patients in specialty areas such as Obstetrics and Trauma while also teaching medical students and resident physicians. Dr. Hartlage serves on the Executive Board for Women in Anesthesiology and was proud to represent the organization as a delegate to the American Women’s Medical Association / Medical Women’s International Association Centennial Congress.
She participates in a Working Group that researches gender equity in medicine and was instrumental in the passage of a statement of support regarding parental leave and breastfeeding support for physician mothers. She also maintains professional memberships in the Society for Education in Anesthesia and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, reflecting her sincere interests in both technology integration and educating the next generation of physicians. Today, Dr. Hartlage is focused on public health, serving as Associate Medical Director for the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, where she oversees such broad programs as epidemiologic monitoring of communicable disease, clinics for specialty care, and maternal/child health and development initiatives.
