Communicable Diseases

Communicable diseases are infectious diseases that are spread from person to person – such as E. coli, Salmonella or chickenpox – or from animals to people, like rabies or H1N1. Our epidemiologists and nurses work to prevent, detect, manage and control infectious diseases. They conduct investigations to ensure diseases don't spread further in the community. Additionally, they work to educate physicians, school administrators, daycare operators, parents and others on the best ways to prevent and treat infectious disease outbreaks.
