Belvedere Renovation $1,000,000 - Project Manager/ Dennis Arthur
The Construction phase of the Project has been awarded to E-Z Construction of Louisville, Ky. E-Z has been planning for the work since January 2017 and obtaining the required permits to work on and above Interstate-64. Work has been purposely delayed until after the Kentucky Derby festivities. Work to being on May 8, 2017 and shall continue until the end of 2017. The work primarily is focused on the removal of the East and West walls of the Belvedere Overlook which spans Interstate-64. These walls are deteriorating and pose a threat to persons above and below the overlook. The walls will be removed and replaced with a shorter concrete wall along with a decorative steel fence.
City Hall Exterior Renovation - $4,830,000 - Project Manager/ Dennis Arthur
The Construction phase of the Project was awarded to The Tradesman Group of Plain City, Ohio. Work began in January of 2017 with the erection of the scaffolding at the perimeter of City Hall. Currently work is being performed on the exterior components of the building such as, raking out and old masonry joints and tuck-pointing; cleaning the stone walls and the removal of the cast iron brackets. Additionally, many of the original windows will be repaired and replaced with energy efficient glass and storm windows as well. Work will continue on through the year and it is anticipated that all work will be completed by year’s end.
Hall of Justice- Design for 1st Floor renovations- $250,000 – Project Manager / Dennis Arthur
The Design Phase of the Project was awarded to Arrasmith, Judd, Rapp & Chovan, Architects from Louisville, Kentucky. Work began on January 26, 2107. The scope of work for the project is to provide the complete design for the removal of the existing escalators and replace with a new elevator and 3 sets of stairs to accede the vertical transportation of persons throughout the Justice Center. Currently the Schematic Design of the proposed renovation has been completed and the Architects are now in the Design Development phase of the project. Once this phase has been completed they will then move on to the Construction Document Phase. All work will be completed this year. No construction will take place until all funds have been appropriated by the City Council and the Administrative Office of the Courts. Estimated cost is $4,345,541.00 It is anticipated that the Construction Phase will begin in FY 19.
Metro Animal Services Complex - $5,4000,000 – Project Manager / Dennis Arthur
The Design-Build project was awarded to F.W. Owen Contractors of Louisville Kentucky. Currently the contractor is working with the Purchasing Department on the Contract. Work will being on the Design Phase of the Project immediately following the approval of the Contract. It is anticipated that the design will be completed by early September 2017 and will then be bid to subcontractors for the various trades who will contract the new facility. It is also anticipated that construction will begin in late Fall of 2017 and will take approximately 14 months to construct.
Public Works & Assets Central District Complex - $3,200,000 – Project Manager / Dennis Arthur
The Design-Build Project was awarded to David Construction Company of Louisville, Kentucky. The Design phase has been completed and the building is under construction. To date the building foundations, floor slab, underground plumbing has been completed. Currently, the contractor is erecting the steel frame of the building. It is anticipated that the project will be completed by late Fall 2017.
Metro Hall Exterior Rehabilitation - $3,650,000 – Project Manager / Tom Stolte
The Design Phase of the Project was awarded to THP Limited, Inc. from Cincinnati, Ohio on April 30, 2015. The exterior assessment and subsequent design documents were completed on February 24, 2016. The construction bids were received on May 12, 2016. The construction award was delayed due to bids exceeding initial consultant estimate. Supplemental funds were appropriated in FY16/17 budget. The construction contract was awarded to Schnell Contractors, Inc. on July 25, 2016. The construction scope of work included restoration of the east, west, and north sides of the building, restoration of the south entrance stairway, and restoration of the exterior light fixtures. The construction work is approximately 50% complete with final completion projected in December 2017.
Memorial Auditorium Roof Replacement - $309,191 – Project Manager / Tom Stolte
The Design-Build Project was awarded to Highland Roofing from Louisville, Kentucky on August 25, 2016. The design was approved on October 31, 2016 and the subsequent roof replacement work was completed on March 30, 2017.
DOC Main Jail Complex Roof Replacement - $825,000 – Project Manager / Tom Stolte
The Design-Build Project was awarded to Highland Roofing from Louisville, Kentucky on May 24, 2016. The design was approved on September 29, 2016 and the subsequent roof replacement work was completed on April 14, 2017
Facilities Deferred Maintenance- $2,200,000—Project Manager/ Mark Zoeller
This capital account is used to complete general repair projects. Projects completed include: renovations to the 4th floor of the Alexander building to house OPI and the Louie Lab, repairs to Ali Plaza, renovations to the Mayor’s Gallery, Flooring projects in LMPD 1st Division, Health Department and NIA center, HVAC repairs to Metro Safe and Metro Hall, masonry repairs to the Metro Development Center, repairs to the fire detection system in Hall of Justice, paving at the Center Government Center. In progress are the repairs to the City Hall Elevators.
