Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics respond to emergencies. They provide first-line medical or emergency care for sick and injured people at the scene of calls that come through the 911 system. EMS Street Operations works 12 hour shifts on a two week rotating schedule (see below). To allow for adequate coverage, crews can be required to work mandatory overtime for an additional four hours beyond their 12 hour shift. At this time, only full-time positions are utilized, therefore no part-time or PRN positions are available.
