Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) and Paramedics respond to emergencies. They provide first-line medical or emergency care for sick and injured people at the scene of calls that come through the 911 system. EMS Street Operations work 12-hour shifts on a two-week rotating schedule (see below). To allow for adequate coverage, crews can be required to work mandatory overtime for an additional four hours beyond their 12-hour shift. At this time, only full-time positions are utilized, therefore no part-time or PRN positions are available.
