Dare to Care - Parkland
Dare to Care Food Bank partners with nearly 300 local social service agencies, such as food pantries, shelters and emergency kitchens to distribute food in our community. The nonprofit reached an agreement with Louisville Metro Government to rent and renovate the former Parkland grocery, 1200 S. 28th St. Opening in April 2020, the new Dare to Care Community Kitchen will triple the size of Dare to Care’s current kitchen, expanding capacity for existing and new programs to serve Kentuckiana’s 170,000 food insecure residents. Once renovated, the building will also house office space, job training programs, and classroom space, and 2,000 square feet will be future retail space.
The city signed a development agreement and lease with Dare to Care in June 2019.
