The New Dixie Highway Project

New Dixie Hwy

This $35 million investment into one of Louisville's busiest and most dangerous transportation centers has improved safety, mobility and livability along the corridor. These improvements in the public right-of-way along Dixie will help spur more private investment along the corridor in future years.

The re-designed roadway includes raised medians and left-hand turn only lanes along the most congested and dangerous section (Crums Lane to Greenwood Road), a new Intelligent Transportation System that improves and coordinates traffic signal timing along the entire corridor, and the region's first Bus Rapid Transit route. Project construction began in late 2018 and was completed in late 2020.

You can read about the entire project and see project documents on the New Dixie Highway Website.
