Enough is Enough

Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC) has its in house substance abuse treatment program dorms. The Enough is Enough Recovery Program was developed out of the need to provide additional assistance to the increasing population of recovering addicts who have chosen a life of sobriety over addiction.

Enough is Enough was founded in an effort to reduce recidivism and provide help to drug offenders and users. The program is designed to assist males and females in the journey of recovery with their re-entry into society as productive, and responsible law abiding citizens. Through a ninety (90) day structured living approach, Enough is Enough teaches recovery dynamics, moral reconation therapy, relapse prevention, amongst other evidence based approaches to prepare the individual for positive decision making and safe effective coping skills. These will aid the recovering addict once they return to their lives outside of LMDC’s walls. Recovery doesn’t end here. Participants are encouraged to partake in discharge planning; connecting them to community resources for continued recovery on the outside. This may include residential substance abuse treatment centers, medication assisted treatment, sober transitional living homes and/or outpatient services through a community provider.

Enough is Enough incorporated a peer detox model with the community detox protocols developed in combination with the contracted jail medical provider and The Healing Place. Enough is Enough program dorms and its occupants assist LMDC staff in monitoring and delivering the necessary services required for the particular challenges detoxing individuals experience. Essentially, those in treatment who have “been there, done that”, assist staff in monitoring and caring for those suffering from withdrawal, acting as additional eyes on those at risk during the detoxification process. It is all about giving back to those who are experiencing the hardships of addiction and sharing your experience, strength and hope with them.
