Employee Hiring Incentives
To attract and recruit individuals who are interested in a career in some of our public safety agencies that are experiencing high vacancy rates (LMPD, Corrections, EMS, EMA), subject to union consent language, we are recommending a one-time hiring incentive. The incentives will be funded with the American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding appropriation authorized by Metro Council in December. The incentive will be $8,000. Half of this incentive ($4,000) will be paid upon hiring and the remainder will be paid in two increments – 25% ($2,000) at the end of year one and the final 25% before Dec. 31, 2024. And for those who reside 75 miles or more outside of Jefferson County, a relocation allowance of up to $3,000 is available.
