Want To Donate Property To Metro?

The Louisville and Jefferson County Landbank Authority, Inc. accepts donations of real property suitable for rehabilitation or  redevelopment if the property is owned free and clear of any encumbrances. A donation may be considered if the only liens on the property are delinquent property taxes owed to Louisville Metro Government and/or Louisville Metro Government-assessed fines/fees. Title insurance may be required. Please call our office if you have any questions about donation eligibility. 
 
If you own property in Louisville Metro and wish to donate to the Landbank Authority, please fill out and submit our online Real Property Donation Form or fill out our editable Donation Form (PDF), print, and submit to:

If the property being donated to the Landbank Authority has outstanding fines, penalties and/or fees assessed by Louisville Metro Government for violations of its Property Maintenance Code, the donor must pay the outstanding fines, penalties and/or fees or fully complete and print an Application for Lien Fee Reduction/Waiver (PDF).  This Application for Lien Fee Reduction/Waiver allows the Property owner to apply for a reduction in fees and liens associated with the citations issued by the Department of Codes and Regulations.  To request such a reduction/waiver, submit this form to the Office of Community Development at the address listed above.  If you are not donating property to the Landbank Authority, please contact the Office of Management and Budget, Accounts Receivable Division at (502) 574-3430 to answer questions regarding property maintenance liens.
 
Owners donating Property to the Landbank may be entitled to an income tax deduction. Owners should contact their tax preparer for information regarding possible tax deductions.

Property that is in foreclosure, which is encumbered only by delinquent tax liens that have not been purchased by a third party and/or fines, penalties and/or fees assessed by Louisville Metro, may be considered for donation. Title must be free of all other liens or encumbrances. Donors must provide the Landbank with an owner’s title insurance policy and a general warranty deed.
