Vacant Property Review Commission

The Vacant Property Review Commission (the "VPRC") reviews blighted and deteriorated properties that have the potential to adversely affect residential areas in Louisville Metro. The Vacant Property Review Commission is comprised of five (5) commissioners appointed by the Mayor to serve overlapping two-year terms.  The Commission was created by the Metro Council to address neighborhood revitalization, and to exercise certain powers, functions, and duties established under state law. Commissioners regularly review citizens’ appeals of the Abandoned Urban Property Tax, which significantly increases certain property taxes on unoccupied, neglected, and/or tax delinquent properties.

Regular meetings of the VPRC are held on the second Monday, of each month, at 3:00 p.m.  Please note that meetings can be canceled for lack of business or if a quorum is not achieved. Special meetings can be held at other times if ever necessary, in which case, the media will be advised within 24 hours.

The public can stream the VPRC's meetings and view their minutes and other meeting materials on the city's Legistar calendar.
