Vacant and Abandoned Properties Pilot Program

The Vacant and Abandoned Properties Pilot Program aims to enhance the safety and quality of life in Louisville. The program involves collaboration with Louisville Fire Department, LMPD, and other Metro offices. Led by Code Enforcement Officer Michele Benzing, the pilot program focuses on visually inspecting vacant or abandoned homes in the neighborhood north of Market Street between 18th and 26th streets.

When vacant properties are identified and determined eligible to be boarded, our office will coordinate with LMPD to safely clear the property before we secure it using ClearBoarding. ClearBoarding not only offers better security by being more difficult to breach, but offers the community a sense of safety.

The community's assistance is sought to help us ensure these properties remain secure. Officer Michele Benzing will be actively monitoring this pilot area and engaging with neighbors to provide them the information they need for reporting an intrusion of any previously boarded properties in the area.
