Register Your Rental Property

On this page you will find all the links you need in order to create an account and register your rental property.

To register your rental property, follow these steps below:
Required

1. Fill out an Affidavit of Compliance. 

An Affidavit of Compliance is REQUIRED to complete your registration.

2. Create an account. 

To register your properties, you must create an account through the Accela Business Portal. Click here to create an account. 
 

 

3. Register your rental property.

There are two ways to register your rental properties with Louisville Metro Government:

RR Online
Register online.

Register
Register in person.

For in person support while you fill out the required information, visit the Codes & Regulations Office. 
We are located at 444 S. 5th Street, Suite 200, Louisville, KY 40202. 
In Person Support is offered Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

The following information is required to register your rental property: 
  • The address of the rental unit(s) 
  • Property Owner’s Name 
  • Owner’s Mailing Address and Physical Address(es) if not their mailing 
  • Owner’s Telephone Number 
  • Owner’s Email Address 
  • Sworn Affidavit by the property owner that, to the best of the Owner’s Knowledge, all rental units within the registered rental housing unit or registered multi-unit rental housing unit facility are in compliance with the applicable provisions of Metro’s property maintenance code (§ 156
  • Credit card for payment
If someone other than the owner manages the property, or if the owner is a partnership or similar entity, you must also provide: 
  • Property Manager’s/Individual’s Name 
  • Property Manager’s/Individual’s Mailing Address and Physical Address(es) if not mailing 
  • Property Manager’s/Individual’s Telephone Number 
  • Property Manager’s/ Individual’s Email Address

Please note:

  • Registration must include the rental unit street address along with current contact information of the owner and managing operator.
  • New owners must register within 30 days of any ownership transfer. Any change in contact information must be updated on the registry within 30 days of said change.
  • Registration must be completed within 30 days of receiving notice in the mail. 
  • Failure to register your rental property prior to due date may result in a fine up to $100 per day per housing unit.
