Strategic Partnerships

Achieving health equity will take collaboration between people and organizations across our entire community. CHE leads or participates in dozens of collaborations including Healthy Babies Louisville, Louisville Health Advisory Board, United Community and Healthy Start.  Ready for K (Kindergarten) Alliance, The Kentucky Infant Mortality Collaboration Innovation and Improvement Network and March of Dimes are also important partners working on early childhood development.

LMPHW’s partnership with the March of Dimes has led to the development of a new Healthy Babies Louisville workgroup to address implicit bias as a factor in the disproportionately high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality experienced by Black women.  CHE also develops plans and programs to address issues such as substance use disorder, LGBT health issues, diabetes, smoking, asthma and suicide.

Strategic Partnerships allow us to bring resources and expertise from all over the community together with research and data to develop better solutions to big problems. Forty nine organizations contributed to Hope, Healing and Recovery: A Plan to Address Substance Use and Misuse in Louisville. This comprehensive plan to meet the challenge of substance use disorder in our community details 10 concrete actions that the community can take to address root causes and assigns each action to a community partner. LMPHW is assigned two actions, but as a result of strategic partnerships, all ten actions have a champion. 

COVID-19 Listening Sessions

Engaging with the community became an important part of LMPHW’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. CHE developed partnerships with over 25 community organizations, contracting with them to connect their community members with information about the COVID vaccine and how to access it, to host a vaccination clinic, and to provide a listening session to help LMPHW understand what needs persisted. As a part of the process, listening sessions also included the presence of a medical expert, a trusted member of the community who could answer questions about the vaccine and COVID-19.

A full summary of these sessions is compiled into our “Community Partnership Listening Session Summary Report.” An additional “Executive Summary” serves as a shorter synopsis of the full report.

The report looked for themes according to immediate needs as well as longer-term partnerships and collaboration. Through this process, we hoped to capture the knowledge and experience of the community and inform our response in a way that most appropriately met the needs of our diverse population.
