Community Advisory Board
Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness' (LMPHW) Center for Health Equity (CHE) hosts bi-weekly meetings with more than 20 Louisville residents who participate in the Community Advisory Board (CAB).
The Community Advisory Board is comprised of 20 members from various parts of Jefferson County, all involved in improving their community whether at a personal or organizational level. Since being onboarded in October 2020, they meet twice a month over video conferencing and have committed to this process for a full year. Members receive compensation for their time.
The 2020-2021 cohort’s main focus has been to collaborate and advise on the Health Equity Report. This has included providing input on a vision for Louisville, how to engage community, what solutions should look like to achieve our vision, what data to include and how to interpret it, as well as assisting with selection of the inaugural CREATE call for artists to develop an artistic layer of the Health Equity Report. Since October 2020 the CAB has shared informed visions specific to root causes of health including housing, education, early childhood development, transportation, food systems, and health and human services.
After the completion of the Health Equity Report 2021, the CAB will help create a governance structure for how to advise LMPHW and the Center for Health Equity in decision-making and ensuring community voice is represented in public health practice.
