Center for Health Equity

Our Vision

A healthy Louisville where everyone and every community thrives.

Center for Health Equity

In June 2006, Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness (LMPHW) established the Center for Health Equity (CHE) which was the first of its kind within a municipal government. CHE supports creating a Louisville Metro where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be healthy and reach their full human potential. A person’s identity, whatever they might be, should not predict how long or how well one will live. However, the history and evolution of structural racism and other systems of power significantly shape the way residents experience hope, happiness, and wellness. To advance health equity work, CHE engages with communities and organizations, analyzes data, and utilizes equity lens in policy, practice and decision-making.
