Brightside Adopt-A-Mile Program
The Brightside Adopt-A-Mile program allows groups to adopt one-mile stretches of city roadways and to commit to keeping them clean for the one-year adoption period. Brightside welcomes any local community organization, such as civic, social, or school groups, as well as religious, businesses or neighborhood organizations to participate in the Adopt-A-Mile program. All groups that participate are given a certificate to be displayed that recognizes their commitment to helping keep Louisville clean and green. For a sponsorship commitment, Brightside will provide a sign within the mile long corridor with your business or group name to recognize the adoption.
There are several benefits to becoming a partner in the Brightside Adopt-A-Mile program. Your commitment to Brightside for an Adopt-a-Mile site goes a long way in promoting your company or group by showing your support for clean and green initiatives where you reside.
- Your group will be listed on our webpage acknowledging partnership as well as included in the Adopt-A-Mile layer on our interactive One Bright City Map.
- Your group or business would also be recognized on an Adopt-A-Mile sign to be displayed within your mile.
- Your group will receive a certificate of recognition to display within your business or group location.
If you have a specific mile in mind for your Adopt-A-Mile Partnership you may list your first choice when you apply for the program. If your mile is already adopted or you are unsure where you would like to adopt, Brightside will work with you to choose another location nearby or we can recommend a location based on our Brightside Cleanliness Assessment results for your area.
Program & Participation Requirements
- Adopt-A-Mile Partners are asked to commit to their site for a minimum of one year
- Adopt-A Mile Partners are required to clean their designated mile a minimum of four times per year.
Brightside will provide supplies (safety vests, bags and gloves) for each cleanup conducted.
We encourage our partners to participate in our Brightside & Passport Health Plan Spring & Fall Community-Wide Cleanups as a part of, or in addition to, your committed cleanups.
Groups are welcome to hold more than the four required cleanups per year.
Please let Brightside know at least two weeks prior to your cleanup, so appropriate measures can be taken to ensure you get supplies for your cleanup.
Adopt-A-Mile Partners are asked to commit to assisting with, or seeking out, opportunities for tree plantings or beautification efforts within their designated mile and within the adoption period.
In order to provide signage, supplies, and to coordinate trash pickup for our Adopt-A-Mile Partners we ask for a sponsorship of $200.00 from our partners. If a non-profit or civic group would like to participate they would be asked to commit to a $100.00 sponsorship.
If your group or business would like to apply to become a Brightside Adopt-A-Mile Partner they may do so by calling our office at (502) 574-2613.
