Painting Detail

Mayor's Gallery

The Mayor's Gallery features works from the City Art Collection, rotating exhibitions. It is also home to the Mayor's Music and Art Series, which celebrates and recognizes local artists, and brings about discussion between local and visiting artists in the community. Featured artists produce musical performances, present recent projects and discuss the process of working within the public realm.

“Louisville has an international reputation for its music, performing and visual arts. We are showcasing a diverse mix of performers and artists in the Mayor’s Gallery which has great acoustics and comfortable seating.” – Mayor Greg Fischer

Rotunda Art Program

Several artworks from the City Art Collection are on permanent view at Metro Hall, but temporary exhibitions are rotated every six months throughout rotunda and other public spaces. These exhibitions are curated and organized by Louisville Visual Art, and highlights the work of local artists.

Artist-in-Residence

The Artist-in-residence series provides extended interactions between the visiting artists and the Louisville community, to expose and educate student and adult audiences by broadening their understandings of the arts, and to make the arts accessible to a wide variety of people. Artworks produced as a result of the residency are exhibited in public facilities where Metro engages with the public.
