About Arts & Culture
The Office of Advanced Planning & Sustainability includes Arts & Culture initiatives for the city of Louisville and Jefferson County. We believe that Arts & Culture are an essential part of creating and sustaining a vibrant community.
We strive to activate Louisville through the arts and creative industries by providing programs and direct support across the following focus areas: arts experiences for everyone, a creative workforce, and creative community spaces and neighborhoods.
Arts & Culture initiatives are supported by public and private sources:
- External Agency Fund (EAF) grants are funded by the Louisville Metro Government operating budget.
- The Public Space Art Fund, established in 2010, is a restricted agency fund that is funded by Metro Council appropriations and/or by funds received from private development projects as outlined in Section 5.12.2 of the Louisville Metro Land Development Code (Outdoor Amenity Fee-in-lieu). The Fund is used to provide grants to 501c3 organizations to undertake public art projects as determined by the Commission on Public Art (COPA).
- Public Art initiatives are supported by varied funding sources including Louisville Metro Government operating and capital budgets, grants, and private donations.
