Lawn Care for Cleaner Air

The Lawn Care for Cleaner Air program encourages Louisville Metro residents to improve air quality by offering rebates when residents convert to lower-emitting equipment.

One hour of mowing with a typical gas-powered lawnmower produces the same amount of air pollution as driving your car for 200 miles—enough to go from Louisville to Nashville. These emissions create pollution that is harmful to sensitive groups like children, elderly adults, and people with conditions like asthma.

Learn more about the program in the LCCA Annual Report.

What do you need to request a rebate?
  1. Completed Rebate Request Form.
  2. The original lawn equipment purchase receipt. Photocopies will not be accepted. Online purchases do not always come with a traditional receipt. We will accept the proof of purchase the online vendor provides.
  3. Proof of Metro Louisville / Jefferson County residency. (Photocopy of driver’s license or equivalent state ID.)
  4. If you trade in your gas-powered equipment at a recycling center to get an even larger rebate, you will also need the original notarized green voucher from the recycling center. (Photocopies are not accepted.)

If you're a non-profit organization in Louisville/Jefferson County, you can apply to be awarded a new set of electric lawn equipment through our Lawn Care for Cleaner Air Community Equipment Grant Program. The next round of applications should open this fall.

If you have questions about the rebates or the equipment grant, please email us through this form or call us at (502) 574-6000.

The only thing more effective than replacing your equipment is replacing your lawn. If you're interested, check out our Grow More Mow Less program.
