The $75,000 University Redevelopment Corridor Study, funded by the department and Councilwoman Marianne Butler, focuses on South Central Louisville. The study area is South Third and Fourth Streets, from Winkler Avenue and Industry Road, to Central Avenue.
This area represents a key corridor in the redevelopment of central Louisville. The purpose of this study is to review and validate the recommendations and proposals identified in earlier work related to land use, and to develop an action plan for the area.
Recent investment has occurred in the vicinity, which presents a unique opportunity to create an urban neighborhood that provides connectivity between these various developments. Some of these sites include Churchill Downs, Papa John’s Football Stadium, Central Station Mall and the expansion and ongoing growth of the University of Louisville.
