About Advanced Planning and Sustainability
The Office of Advanced Planning and Sustainability envisions, designs and implements long-range planning solutions to create a vibrant, sustainable community where people want to live, work and innovate.
The Advanced Planning and Sustainability team carries out strategic, long- and short-term planning initiatives focused on neighborhoods, multi-modal corridors, brownfields, sustainability and public art. The department specializes in collaborating closely with the community as well as cross-departmentally in planning for future growth and development within Louisville Metro. Initiatives such as Vision Louisville, a creative visioning process to inspire big ideas for the future; Move Louisville, the city's long range multi-modal strategic plan; Sustain Louisville, the city's first ever sustainability plan; and Plan 2040, the city's recent Comprehensive Plan are all led by the office. Guided by the CHASE principles set out in the Comprehensive Plan: Connectivity, Health, Authenticity, Sustainability and Equity, the office works to advance the vision for the city's future.
