Olmsted Parks Conservancy, in partnership with Louisville Parks and Recreation, conducted a trail study last fall with help from Alta Planning and Design to learn how to better control soil erosion and improve the existing natural trail system in Cherokee Park, Iroquois Park, and Seneca Park.

Aug 6 2020 Air Pollution Control District Notice of Public Meeting

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (the District) announces a Public Meeting regarding possible amendments to Regulation 5.15, Chemical Accident Prevention Provisions.

The public meeting will provide a forum to share information about this regulation and to informally discuss possible amendments and answer questions from the public. This meeting will be held via teleconference (due to the COVID-19 outbreak) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., or until discussion ends (whichever is first) on August 20, 2020. Instructions on attending the teleconference will be posted at www.louisvilleky.gov/APCD/Docket before the meeting and emailed to subscribers of APCD Public Notices (www.louisvilleky.gov/government/air-pollution-control-district/subscribe...).

Aug 6 2020 APCD Releases Final Report of the Multipollutant Stakeholder Group

The Air Pollution Control District is releasing the Final Report of the Multipollutant Stakeholder Group convening process, which kicked-off in November 2019 and completed in April 2020. Through this process, more than 60 representatives from over 36 entities or organizations came together to receive up-to-date information about Louisville’s air quality challenges and collaboratively develop more than 90 recommendations for the APCD and the community-at-large to advance local air quality goals. While much focus was given to ozone pollution – for which Louisville is not meeting the current national standard – the group expanded its discussion and looked for opportunities to reduce emissions of fine particulates and air toxics, as well as recommended strategies to reduce exposure and increase awareness of the importance of protecting our air quality.

Aug 3 2020 Mayor, Public Safety Chief provide update on search for new permanent LMPD chief

Mayor Greg Fischer and Amy Hess, the city’s Chief of Public Safety, today provided an update on the search for a new permanent Chief for the Louisville Metro Police Department – including news that the job description and position profile has been posted.

The Mayor noted that more than 10,000 people had provided input into the crafting of those documents by responding to an online survey and nearly two dozen listening sessions with various focus groups throughout the community.

Jul 30 2020 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue an operating permit for Eckart America Corporation (aluminum powder and paste production), 4101 Camp Ground Road, Louisville, 40211, in accordance with Regulation 2.16. This is a standard permit renewal. The 30-day public comment period starts August 1, 2020, and ends on August 31, 2020.  A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.
