Apr 16 2015 Metro Council passes ordinance to license and regulate Pop Up Parties to create safe atmosphere for young people

They are parties that happen in abandoned warehouses, empty storefronts and occasionally in a building that was subleased from an unsuspecting owner.  There is little to no trained security and the structure is not always safe.  That will soon change. By a vote of 25 to ) with one abstention, the Louisville Metro Council has passed a new ordinance that will crack down on so called Pop up Parties that will now require licensing and trained security to keep party goers safe

Cyclouvia - the popular event showcasing alternative transportation - is returning to a two-mile stretch of Frankfort Avenue on Sunday, April 19th, Mayor Greg Fischer announced.

Frankfort Avenue from Pope Street to Stilz Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2-6 p.m. During the event, the two middle lanes of Frankfort Avenue will be open to bicycle use, and the two outer curb lanes will be used only for pedestrians and other non-bicycle usage.

Loans totaling $115,000 have been awarded to 16 small businesses to help them start or expand. The loans are part of a program to support microbusinesses – those with five or fewer employees – created by the Louisville Metro Department of Community Services.
