Feb 5 2015 Visit the 1860's Pumping Station

Thursday, February 5, 2015Take a walk back in time with us and visit the Pumping Station and Water Tower as it looked in 1860, Louisville Water Company's first year of operation. When first built, the Pumping Station required smoke stacks to release the smoke generated by engines and pumps housed inside the building. Two enormous Cornish-beam engines filled the center of the Station, each containing a steam cylinder measuring 70 feet in diameter.

Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) will join Metro Public Works officials on Friday, February 6th to break ground on a project that when completed will enhance public safety through a connector sidewalk along sections of Mount Holly Road.

Feb 4 2015 City Employees to Relocate to Edison Center in Old Louisville

Nearly 300 city government employees who currently work in various metro departments at 810 and 850 Barret Avenue will be relocated later this year to a renovated warehouse in Old Louisville known as the Edison Center, Mayor Greg Fischer announced today.

In addition, the Property Valuation Office, currently located in the Fiscal Court Annex building behind Metro Hall, will relocate to Glassworks at 9th and Market streets.

As a result, they could miss out on up to $6,143 extra in their federal income tax refunds through the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC. Last year the national average credit boosted refunds for eligible recipients by $2,500.
