Feb 11 2015 Proposed Agreed Board Order 15-01 with Phil Wells

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control Board will hold a public hearing on February 18, 2015, on a proposed Agreed Board Order with Phil Wells, Citizen. Citizen is alleged to have violated District Regulation 5.04 (Adoption of Federal Emission Standard for Asbestos) at a facility located on Lexington Road in Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Feb 11 2015 Big Four Bridge Lights the Night With Color

Today marked the beginning of a nightly light display on the Big Four Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge. Each evening from around sunset until 1:00 a.m., a program of LED lighting will provide motion and color to the structure of the bridge. A daily  schedule of programming will provide rainbow effects or combinations of 2 or 3 colors that dance and move across the bridge. Certain holidays will have a dedicated theme, such as shades of red and pink for Valentine’s Day, green for St.

After a thorough months-long review, Louisville Metro Police — along with the Jefferson County Attorney and the Jefferson County Commonwealth Attorney — have found no criminal wrongdoing or neglect regarding a dog in the care of Louisville Metro Animal Services that was surrendered by its owner.

Mayor Greg Fischer today challenged businesses and organizations to put 2,500 young people in jobs this summer by supporting his SummerWorks program.

Feb 6 2015 Light it up! Big 4 Bridge to debut its colors

Mayor Greg Fischer will plug in the Big Four pedestrian bridge and officially illuminate the city’s much-loved span connecting Louisville with Southern Indiana.

The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 on the upper floor of the former Tumbleweed restaurant at Waterfront Park. The public is invited.

Feb 5 2015 Visit the 1860's Pumping Station

Thursday, February 5, 2015Take a walk back in time with us and visit the Pumping Station and Water Tower as it looked in 1860, Louisville Water Company's first year of operation. When first built, the Pumping Station required smoke stacks to release the smoke generated by engines and pumps housed inside the building. Two enormous Cornish-beam engines filled the center of the Station, each containing a steam cylinder measuring 70 feet in diameter.
